Teaching Mindfulness II

(formerly Advanced Training for Mindful Educators E-Course)

Teaching Mindfulness II, is the advanced training and mentorship part of our Teaching Mindfulness series. Deepen your practice within a community of like-minded teachers and with the support of your group and Instructor, create your own personal 'big picture' plan and goals for mindfulness in your work and life.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Our Teaching Mindfulness II course is an 8 week mentorship course to support either:

  1. Graduates of our Teaching Mindfulness I course in creating and implementing a plan for mindfulness in their community, school or whichever setting they choose.

  2. Or to support existing mindful teachers in creating and implementing a plan for mindfulness in their community, school or whichever setting they choose.

Together, participants will work with their cohort and instructor to deepen their own practice while creating a greater plan for working with their population, within the settings of their choosing (it could be a classroom, school district, community or at home, for example).

COURSE CONTENT

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Mindfulness Practice videos and Mindfulness Values videos are taught by Emmanuelle Giumelli and Dave Trachtenberg, alternately.

1. Exploration of Mindfulness Practice

A weekly video where, together, we practice mindfulness. Each video will be accompanied with written ideas and text to help you with learning and growth. Our aim is to support the deepening of your personal practice, and additionally, help further your teaching resources.

2. Exploration of Mindfulness Values

A thought-provoking weekly video discussing a mindfulness value (e.g. curiosity). This eye-opening discussion is designed to stimulate new ideas around your understanding of mindfulness and assist you with your own practice and teaching.

3. Weekly Mindful Movement

A weekly video with Jessica Smith, leading you through a mindful movement practice. These sessions will support your self-care and stress management, while teaching you movements you can share with your students.

4. Reflection and Inquiry

Utilizing our private online forum, we invite you to talk together as a community that is practicing, learning and growing together. As a group, we will reflect and inquire about all that we've learned in mindfulness this week, and discuss any other ideas that may emerge.

5. Support and Mentorship

Participants will receive valuable personal support and mentorship from both the course cohort and their instructor. Support will come in many forms, from online Zoom meetings, to phone calls, emails and our online forum; providing a rich opportunity for us to move forward in mindfulness, impacting both ourselves and our communities.

6. Goal and Plan Creation

In this course we will be deepening our practice while uncovering, documenting and implementing our goals and plans for mindfulness within the setting of our own choosing (classroom, home, community, etc.). As we learn and grow together, we will also support each other in creating our own mindfulness 'big picture'.

“Thank you so much for the lessons and the practice. I feel like I have really evolved as an educator this year. - MAUREEN L., PRE-KINDERGARTEN TEACHER @ DESERT SUN ELEMENTARY

“Thank you so much for this class. I have learned so much and have enjoyed all the practices and time with my kids teaching them and watching them grow. I can't wait to start mindfulness earlier in the school year and see it unfold to it's full potential. Teaching in a multi-age classroom, I'm excited to see how my soon to be 2nd graders will respond and continue to carry on being mindful (same goes to my new first graders as well).”

-COURTNEY S., 1ST & 2ND GRADE TEACHER @ FOOTHILLS ELEMENTARY

“Thank you for this program. I've been wanting to take this class for awhile now and I'm so glad I had this opportunity! I find that the lessons are very appropriate and user friendly for my young students. I look forward to starting the school year with the program this next fall. There are so many great resources that I'm excited to add to my program. Also, I appreciate the focus on us as professionals to create and practice our own mindfulness practice first. Practice what we teach.”
